Viking has opened bookings for its 2028–29 ocean cruise season, introducing its largest ocean deployment to date with hundreds of new departure dates and destinations across six continents.
Travelers planning future cruise vacations can now explore Viking’s expanded 2028–29 ocean voyage schedule, which features more than 700 new departure dates across 80 voyages, visiting 301 ports in 84 countries and six continents.
The expanded program gives travelers more opportunities to discover destinations around the world while experiencing Viking’s destination-focused approach to cruising.
Viking Introduces New Cruise Itineraries
The 2028–29 deployment will feature additional departures of Viking’s recently introduced Japan Discovery itinerary, along with two new cruise itineraries.
The new itineraries include:
- Alaskan Fjords & the Inside Passage
- Mediterranean, Malta & North Africa
These new voyages are designed to give travelers more opportunities to explore popular destinations as well as lesser-visited ports.
Viking said the expanded schedule reflects its continued focus on destination-oriented travel, allowing guests to spend more time exploring the places included in their itineraries.
Cruises Across Six Continents
During the 2028–29 season, Viking’s ocean ships will sail across a wide range of destinations, including:
- Mediterranean
- Northern Europe
- Alaska
- Asia
- Australia and New Zealand
- Caribbean
- South America
- Panama Canal
With hundreds of departure dates available, travelers will have a wide selection of cruise lengths, destinations and travel dates to consider when planning their next vacation.
The expanded schedule also provides more opportunities for travelers interested in combining cruise travel with longer stays at destinations before or after their voyage.
Viking Continues to Expand Its Fleet
Viking’s growing ocean fleet will also play an important role in the 2028–29 deployment.
The cruise line is scheduled to take delivery of two additional ocean ships, Viking Vega in 2028 and Viking Leda in 2029.
Each ship will weigh approximately 54,300 tons and accommodate up to 988 passengers, adding further capacity to Viking’s expanding ocean cruise network.
The new ships will join Viking’s existing fleet as the company continues to expand its global ocean cruise offerings.
Viking Announces Anniversary Sale
Travelers interested in booking a future Viking cruise can also take advantage of the company’s Anniversary Sale, which is available through August 31, 2026.
The promotion includes discounted cruise fares and complimentary airfare on select ocean, river and expedition cruises. Travelers should check the applicable terms and conditions, as offers and eligible voyages may vary.
Viking Focuses on Destination-Focused Travel
Leah Talactac, Viking’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said the expanded deployment will provide guests with more opportunities to explore destinations around the world.
“With our largest ocean deployment to date, we are pleased to offer guests even more opportunities to explore the world in Viking comfort,” Talactac said.
She added that the new itineraries and the introduction of the cruise line’s newest ocean ships demonstrate Viking’s continued commitment to destination-focused voyages for curious travelers.
Plan Your 2028–29 Cruise Adventure
With its 2028–29 ocean voyages now open for bookings, Viking is offering travelers an extensive selection of destinations across six continents.
From the fjords of Alaska and the Mediterranean to Japan, Australia, the Caribbean and South America, the expanded schedule provides a variety of options for travelers looking to plan their next international cruise.
As popular departure dates can fill early, travelers interested in specific itineraries should review available dates and cruise options in advance.
Travel Tip: When comparing cruise itineraries, consider not only the destinations but also the time spent in each port, departure and arrival locations, included airfare or transfers, and opportunities to extend your trip before or after the cruise.
