Delta Air Lines is expanding its transpacific network with a new daily nonstop service connecting Seattle and Tokyo’s Narita International Airport, giving travelers more options when flying between the United States and Japan.
Delta Air Lines has announced plans to launch a new nonstop route between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) beginning in late March 2027.
The new service will provide travelers with another convenient option for traveling between the Pacific Northwest and Japan’s capital, complementing Delta’s existing flights between Seattle and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.
Daily Flights Between Seattle and Tokyo Narita
The new route is scheduled to operate daily, giving passengers greater flexibility when planning trips between Seattle and Tokyo.
Delta plans to operate the service using its Airbus A330-900neo, one of the airline’s long-haul aircraft. The aircraft will offer several cabin options, including:
- Delta One
- Delta Premium Select
- Delta Comfort
- Delta Main
The addition of Narita service will complement Delta’s existing Seattle–Tokyo operations at Haneda Airport, providing travelers with access to both of Tokyo’s major international airports.
More Travel Options for Visitors to Japan
Tokyo’s Narita and Haneda airports serve different parts of the metropolitan area. While Haneda is closer to central Tokyo, Narita is located farther from the city center and serves as a major international gateway to Japan.
The two airports are approximately an hour apart, depending on traffic and transportation conditions.
For travelers from the Pacific Northwest, Delta’s new Narita service could offer additional flexibility when choosing flights, accommodation, and onward transportation within Japan.
The new route also strengthens Seattle’s position as an important gateway between North America and Asia.
Delta Highlights Growing Connections With Japan
Japan remains an important destination within Delta’s international network, particularly for business and leisure travelers.
Jeff Arinder, Delta’s Vice President of International Network Planning, highlighted the importance of Japan to the airline and the benefits of expanding service to both Tokyo airports.
“Japan continues to be one of the most important and beloved destinations in Delta’s global network,” Arinder said.
Port of Seattle Commissioner Toshiko Hasegawa also welcomed the announcement, emphasizing the longstanding connections between Japan and the Pacific Northwest.
“Expanding service to both Narita and Haneda gives travelers more choice while strengthening the economic and cultural ties that have long connected Japan and the Pacific Northwest,” Hasegawa said.
What This Means for Travelers
For travelers planning a trip to Tokyo in 2027, Delta’s new Seattle–Narita route could provide another option for reaching Japan.
The additional service may be particularly useful for passengers who prefer Narita International Airport, are connecting to other destinations in Japan, or want greater flexibility when comparing flight schedules.
Travelers should check Delta’s official schedule and booking information as the launch date approaches, as flight times and availability may change.
Plan Your Future Tokyo Trip
With daily nonstop flights between Seattle and Tokyo Narita scheduled to begin in late March 2027, Delta Air Lines is giving travelers another way to connect the Pacific Northwest with Japan.
The new service adds to Delta’s existing Tokyo network and reflects the continued demand for convenient international travel between the United States and Japan.
For travelers considering a future trip to Tokyo, the expanded service could make it easier to compare flight options and plan an itinerary that best fits their schedule.
Travel tip: If you are planning to visit Tokyo, consider comparing both Narita and Haneda flight options before booking. Airport location, transportation time, flight schedule, and onward connections can all make a difference to your overall travel experience.
